About a week ago Google added a new feature within Google Webmaster Tools that will be very affective for many webmasters. Google is now showing webmasters if they have a manual penalty against them. According to Google about 98% of webmasters won’t have to worry about a manual penalty but for the other 2% that do may view their penalty by clicking on the “Manual Actions” link under “Search Traffic”. If you are part of the 98% of webmasters you will see this message within Google Webmaster Tools, “No manual webspam actions found.”

How will this feature benefit webmasters?
Instead of playing the guessing game with Google, Webmasters will now be able to see what problem their website holds and see exactly where the problem lies. The problems will be available underneath two headings: site wide matches and partial matches. Things such as “hidden text”, “thin content”, “pure spam” and other spam problems will be noted. A limit of 1,000 links per spam problem is the limit, which Google says should be more than enough to assess the situation.
Reconsideration Request Made Easier
Along with outlining manual spam problems, Google has also made “request a review” very simple, with a red button below where the manual actions are listed. Google is making an effort to have greater communication with webmasters to sort out issues and get them back on track within search rankings quicker. However, don’t fill this request out until absolutely every problem is fixed and analyzed. Although Google has made this secretive task smoother, the same rules still apply.
